“Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga (MASA MASID) seeks to engage local stakeholders, civic organizations, religious-based organizations, the private sector and even volunteers in any of the following strategies: Demand Reduction through Advocacy and Education Campaigns, Supply Reduction through Information Gathering and Reporting, and Community- Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP),” said DILG regional director Florida Dijan.
Suggested activities under Advocacy and Education include discussions through word of mouth and conduct of seminars and forums to advocate anti-illegal drugs in the community.
“Under Information Gathering and Reporting, MASA MASID Teams may set-up a hotline where members of the community can call to report any drug-related incident. They may also interview neighbors to gather information on any untoward incident and establish a database for a more efficient monitoring and validation of cases,” Dijan said.
The Community Rehabilitation Network will facilitate the CBRP which covers psychological, neurological, spiritual and social dimensions, Dijan added.
“It focuses not only on the healing of the patients but also care for their families and the whole community,” she pointed out.
