BALANGA CITY (PIA) — Coast Guard Station (CGS) Bataan has intensified disaster preparedness efforts across the province through its 3Ps strategy, or Pre-Emptive, Preventive, and Proactive, working closely with local disaster risk reduction offices and partner agencies in anticipation of the possible effects of Super Typhoon Inday.
The initiative supports the national government’s continuing efforts under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience through a whole of government approach that promotes close coordination among national government agencies, local government units, and communities.
CGS Bataan implemented the operational strategy under the Philippine Coast Guard’s Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement program, which prioritizes the protection of lives, prevention of maritime incidents, safeguarding of critical assets, and coordinated emergency response before, during, and after the typhoon.
As part of its preparedness measures, the station coordinated with municipal disaster risk reduction and management offices and other partner agencies to obtain the latest weather updates and reinforce readiness for any emergency that may arise from the approaching weather disturbance.
The station also conducted information dissemination activities and distributed safety advisories to fishermen and motor banca operators in various municipalities across the province to raise awareness of precautionary measures before sea conditions worsen.
CGS Bataan reminded fishermen and boat operators to closely monitor official weather bulletins, ensure that their boats are securely docked, wear life jackets whenever going to sea, strictly comply with sea travel advisories and prevailing gale warnings, and refrain from venturing out when sea conditions are unsafe.
The station emphasized that its close coordination with local disaster risk reduction offices and partner agencies strengthens the government’s collective disaster preparedness efforts by ensuring that timely information, preventive measures, and emergency response mechanisms are in place to protect coastal communities.
