ABUCAY, Bataan- Three persons died while two others were injured when the delivery van and the tricycle they were riding in collided along the Roman Superhighway in the village of Mabatang here before noon of Friday “Nakita kong nagsalpukan ang magkasalubong na Isuzu Elf at tricycle,” said Balanga City Councilor Vic Malibiran who immediately informed city rescue medics.
Rescue workers under the City Public Safety Offi ce of Balanga and police officers from Abucay quickly responded.
Dead on the spot were tricycle driver Rauf Malawi Bongcarawan and a woman passenger identified only as Jalil, both from Balanga City; and Glenn Alagase, one of the three passengers of the delivery van.
Injured and rushed to the Bataan General Hospital were Jose Alagase and JR Amador, driver and helper of the van, respectively, both from Manila.
The vehicle that just delivered truck spare parts in Balanga was bound for Olongapo City while the tricycle was heading for Balanga. From the right lane, the van swerved to the left, crashed on the tricycle, hit a road sign and turned turtle.
The two vehicles were heavily damaged and rested on the canal by the roadside.
“Kinut ako ng tricycle. Umiwas ako pero nandoon pa rin siya,” Alagase said.
