3 rob suspects killed in Cabanatuan City

CABANATUAN CITY – Three alleged thieves were killed in an encounter with police operatives in an entrapment operation that was hatched upon the complaint of two female college students in Barangay Ibabao Bana here at around 10:40 p.m. Friday.

Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief, said that suspects Benjie Montepalco, 18; Renjiel Galvez, 24; and Manuel Apelado, 40, all residents of Barangay Cojuangco, Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija, apparently sensed they were transacting with policemen and one of them opened fire, ensuing a shootout.

Forensic investigators from the Nueva Ecija police Crime Laboratory Office recovered from the place of incident one homemade .38 revolver, two .22 pistols, several spent shells from the said guns and nine from 9mm pistol and five plastic sachets of suspected shabu.

Investigators also recovered the three mobile phones, a laptop, and a necklace pendant supposedly stolen by the suspect from their victims.

Police hatched the entrapment operation after the suspects allegedly contacted two female students whose apartment room in Mabini Ext. this city was ransacked, supposedly by the former, on the eve of Jan. 26, 2018.
