3 gangmen nabbed, yield guns, ammo

    HERMOSA, Bataan — Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of three suspected members of a criminal gang, one of whom is a barangay captain, and the confiscation of various firearms and ammunitions during the implementation of a search warrant in a fenced compound here Tuesday noon.

    Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan police director, said nabbed were Enrico Cabiling, Jr., barangay captain of Mambog; Xernan Jorge, 32, of Daungan and Emmanuel Rivera, 51, of San Pedro, all in Hermosa town.

    Confiscated were an M-16 baby Armalite rifle, three .45 pistols, a .40 mm Glock pistol, an MK2 hand grenade, three magazines for M-16, 83 ammunitions for .5.56mm, six magazines for .45, 60 ammunitions for .45, a magazine for .40mm Glock and 14 ammunitions for caliber .40mm.

    The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Police Public Safety Company and the provincial investigation branch of the Bataan police provincial office implemented the search warrant issued by RTC Executive Judge Roline Ginez-Jabalde of Branch 74 in Olongapo City.

    Silo said the arrested persons are alleged members of the Cabiling criminal group and considered as persons of interest in the murder of Hermosa Councilor Danilo Basi.

    Basi, 63. was gunned down by one of four men riding a car at noon last April 29 while on his way home from a farm in Mambog.

    Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia has off ered a reward of P1 million while Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton placed a bounty of P300,000 for the arrest of the suspects.

    Police said Cabiling faces charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Law and RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act while Jorge and Rivera on violation of RA 10591.
