CASTILLEJOS, Zambales —-While the case of the Zambales Electric Cooperative ll (ZAMECO ll) Board of Directors has remained pending at the Supreme Court, consumers here have filed a resolution creating an interim board of directors, and set the an immediate election so as not to disrupt the operation of the cooperatives.

Earlier, the mayors of Subic, Castillejos, San Marcelino, San Antonio, San Narciso, San Felipe and Cabanggan – all in the 1st District of Zambales – and members of the cooperative as well consumers held a rally for six–days that only ended up yesterday.

The new interim board of directors of ZAMECO ll took their Oath of Office before Zambales Governor Amor Deloso. They were: for Subic, Ryan Gonzales; Castillejos, Engineer  Dominador Gallardo; San Marcelino, Engineer Antonio Escobar;  San Antonio, Dr. Leo Lonzanida; San Narciso, Atty. Luperio Villanueva; San Felipe, Mr. Delfin Francia and Cabangan, Engineer Joe Marie Jamili.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) in a letter signed by Edita Bueno confirmed the designation of Engineer Alvin Farrales as interim General Manager vice Engineer Fidel Correa, the incumbent General Manger of ZAMECO ll.

Castillejos Mayor Wilma Billman said the registration of ZAMECO ll with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) is illegal and tried to cover up anomalies. “Hindi ito dumaan sa tamang proseso, at yung kanilang mga Board of Directors ay may 24-taon nang nakaupo nang walang eleksyon”, the Mayor said.

Billman added that the P59 million collections of PPA of ZAMECO ll have not yet been “plowed” back to the consumers to date.

On the other hand, a member of the ZAMECO ll Board who requested anonymity asked to “just tket the Court of Appeals decide the case, kaya kami hindi nagre-resigned ay nag-aantay lamang kami ng desisyon ng korte”.
