Youth group vs. drugs, terrorism puts up lanterns of hope

CABANATUAN CITY
Hope despite the pandemic.

Imparting that message for the season, members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, a youth movement against illegal drugs and terrorism, put uphandmade lanterns around the perimeter of the Nueva Ecija police provincial headquarters along Burgos and Mabini Streets here.

The lanterns came from KKDT chapters in all of Nueva Ecijas 27 towns and five cities.

A standout is the lantern from Peñaranda, showcasing white Christmas made of feathers as the municipality is known to be the province’s poultry capital.

Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro the lantern-making contest encouraged youths to artistically use indigenous and recyclable materials.

“Yung paggawa nito ay paghahatid ng mensahe ng pag-asa. Kahit may pandemic tayo ay mayroon tayong nakikitang pag-asa,” Saro said.

He lauded the KKDAT members for their active role inthe government’s campaign against drug abuse and terrorism.
