YULETIDE SEASON IS HERE. Gov. Susan Yap and Board Members Antonio Cervantes Jr. and Joy Gilbert Lamorena during the lighting of the giant Christmas Tree, capitol building, and other Christmas ornaments at the Maria Cristina Park.
THE holiday season has officially begun at the provincial seat of power when Governor Susan Yap led the simultaneous lighting of Christmas ornaments and decorations at the Maria Cristina Park, capitol building and Museo ng Tarlac, November 28.
Included in the simultaneous lighting is the giant Christmas tree decorated with giant boxes resembling Christmas gifts. In the past, lanterns and a giant Christmas ball were featured in the huge Christmas tree.
In her message, the governor said that the province has a lot to thank for this year.
“Marami po tayong dapat ipasalamat sa taong ito. Ang pinakamataas na parangal na iginagawad sa isang lokal na pamahalaan ay nakamit natin at yan ang SGLG. Hall of famer na rin tayo sa Gawad Kalasag at Kabalikat Award,” Yap said.
She also urged all Tarlaqueños to unite this yuletide season and do away with personal bickering.
“Ngayong kapaskuhan, kalimutan muna po natin ang ating mga alitan at pulitika. Magkaisa po tayo para tayo ay pagpalain pa lalo ng Panginoon,” she said.
Assisting the governor during the lighting were Board Members Antonio Cervantes Jr. and Joy Gilbert Lamorena and Tourism Officer Arsenio Lugay II.
Department heads and employees of the provincial government and ordinary Tarlaqueños witnessed the simple ceremony. The award-winning Tarlac National High School chorale rendered several Christmas songs and a fireworks display was also witnessed.—PIO
