GUIMBA,
Nueva Ecija – Several male employees of the Interim Division VI of National Irrigation Administration-Upper Pampanga River Integrated Irrigation System here played chefs and treated their female counterparts with a variety of kare-kare preparations on Monday.

Engr. Jose Ariel Domingo, division manager, said the activity showed how men can serve women in everyday life.

“This is in connection with our celebration of International Women’s Month,” Domingo said, showing the mini-cookfest where male employees presented four tables of different kare-kare preparations as only one of many activities for “Juana.”

Some women presidents of irrigators association joined the lunch. Kare-kare, they said, is among the favorite dishes in the locality and in the country, but rarely prepared as regular household dish

Domingo said it is the thrust of the NIA hierarchy, led by administrator Ret. Gen. Ricardo Visaya, to empower women in all fields.

Women engineers and employees in their office and agency excel in their respective endeavors, Domimgo said.

“May mga presidente rin ng irrigators association na babae at effective sila sa pagpapaabot sa ating mga magsasaka ng mga impormasyon katulad ng libreng patubig na ipinatupad ni Pres. Duterte at administrator Visaya,” he noted.

The irrigators associations are groups of farmers that work as a private organization partner of NIA in the delivery of irrigation services to farmlands.
