MORONG, Bataan – Police intelligence agents arrested recently a man long wanted for cases of murder and homicide who allegedly bolted the Eastern Samar Provincial Jail some years ago.
Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, identified the suspect as Godo Caspe, 38, caretaker of the Blue Sand Beach Resort reportedly owned by Bulacan Vice-Gov. and movie actor Daniel Fernando.
SPO2 Danilo Nazareno, intelligence officer, led the apprehension at about 5:00 a.m. of Caspe who was walking along the dirt road in sitio Crossing, Barangay Nagbalayong in Morong town.
Suspect said he has been working as a caretaker for Fernando’s resort for two years.
As suspect lay flat on the sand, police officers informed him of his rights to seek counsel and the reason for the arrest under the Miranda Doctrine. The tattooed Caspe did not resist arrest.
Nazareno said suspect was nabbed on the basis of two arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court of Eastern Samar and the National Bureau of Investigation for cases of homicide and murder committed in Eastern Samar in September 2006 and September 1993, respectively.
The arrest warrant on the case for homicide was marked “escaped prisoner”. Suspect allegedly was among five inmates who bolted the Eastern Samar Provincial Jail some years ago.
Nazareno said suspect was placed under surveillance for weeks. On Saturday dawn despite the rains, police officers under the police Provincial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau in Bataan headed by Supt. Allan Macapagal pushed through with the raid.
The police team leader said that they came to know that Caspe regularly walked around the beach resorts every early morning and from there, they set the dragnet for his apprehension.
From the beach resort, suspect was brought for preliminary documentation at the Morong police station and then to the Bataan Police Provincial Office at Camp Tolentino in Balanga City.
