PILAR, Bataan- The driver of a service tricycle died while one of his three co-workers was injured when a delivery truck hit the tricycle at the Roman Superhighway in Alauli, this town Tuesday morning.
Senior Insp. Dennis Orbista, Pilar police chief, identified the fatality as Christian Santos, 23, of Puerto Rivas, Balanga City. Santos was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga.
Glen Merciales, 25, passenger of the tricycle, said they left Puerto Rivas and were bound for Orion, Bataan to work in a construction firm. “Nabigla kami, mabilis ang pangyayari. Kabuntot namin ang trak, bigla kaming dinumog,” he said.
Reports showed that the tricycle with the victim and three passengers and the delivery truck were travelling on the same direction when the accident happened at 8 in the morning.
After bumping the tricycle, the truck sidewept an incoming car driven by Antonio Escoto, police said. No one was hurt from the car and the delivery truck. Police are readying appropriate charges against truck driver Joel Fajardo, 35, of Hermosa, Bataan.
