ANGELES CITY – Mayoralty candidate Sec. Edgardo “EdPam” Pamintuan and thousands of residents in Northville here had a special way of celebrating Christmas.

Northrail staff spearheaded gift-giving and outreach program followed by a tree-planting activity participated in by hundreds of volunteers.

Pamintuan’s son Edu also led a story-telling activity participated by hundreds of children.

Then, a painting contest was also held with the environment and a railroad train as theme.

Dubbed as “The Pamaskong Handog of Team Edpam,” Pamintuan said the event aims to bring the spirit of Christmas to more than 3,500 residents of Northville.

Team Edpam invited actress Iwa Moto of the famed teleserye Darna to entertain residents.

Pamintuan also joined Councilor Maricel “Marang” Morales and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting in serenading the more than 2,000 audience packed at the still unfinished giant multi-purpose Nipa building.

“Malapit po sa ating mga puso ang mga settlers sa Northville dahil tayo po ang tumayo at nakipaglaban in and out of the city council para sa kanilang kapakanan,” said Councilor Jay Sangil.

“We, together with Dr. Ruben Maniago, Vice Mayor Vega, Atty. Willie Rivera, Maricel Morales, appealed to PGMA [Pres. Arroyo] to provide descent living to 3,500 families from nine barangays,” he added.

When the city government failed to provide street lights in the area, Sangil said “Pamintuan sponsored street lights and were installed in two weeks.”

Pamintuan said the event was a “smashing success.” “Local dancers and singers did their thing. Then Team Edpam sang Christmas songs and bid them farewell.”
