ANGELES CITY – First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin yesterday led the distribution of 25 service vehicles worth P7.1 million at the city hall here on Monday.
Lazatin said the distribution of multicabs to pre-selected barangays in Pampanga’s first district is aimed at providing immediate transportation especially during emergencies.
“This is to ensure the mobility of our leaders who are tasked to serve their people,” he added.
Lazatin was accompanied by Mayors Edgardo Pamintuan of this city, Marino Morales of Mabalacat and Romulo Pecson of Magalang.
Angeles City received 10 multicabs while Mabalacat town got six and Magalang, nine. The multicabs cost P279,000 per unit.
Lazatin also disclosed that all the villages in his district will get same service vehicles There are 87 barangays in the first district and the solon will spend about P21 million from his priority development assistant fund (PDAF).
The others are expected to get their Japan-made service vehicle in July and December this year.
Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Joseph Dimapilis of this city lauded Lazatin for “setting aside politics in the name of public service.”
He said all the 33 village chiefs here will get their respective service vehicles “regardless of their political affiliations.”
Councilor Maricel “Marang” Morales thanked Lazatin “for giving vehicles in tip-top shape.”
This, she added, is “necessary to serve longer the people using the vehicles.”
The 25 barangays who received the service vehicles are: Capaya, Tabun, Mining, San Jose, Salapungan, Cutud, San Nicolos, Sta. Trinidad, Pampang and Claro M. Recto, in Angeles City; Mangalit, Sapang Balen, Calumpang, Atlu Bola, Sta. Marian and Mamatitang, in Mabalacat; and San Roque, Dolores, Navaling, San Idelfonso, San Miguel, Turu, Escaler, Sta. Lucia and San Jose in Magalang.
Lazatin also announced his plans of constructing all the public school buildings in his district with a budget allocation of P40 million.
He said that road widening and the rehabilitation of the bridges at Friendship highway in this city and in barangay Sta. Maria in Mabalacat town will also be his priority.
For their part, Pamintuan and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting lauded Lazatin’s efforts of extending support by way of giving out emergency service vehicles to different barangays in his district.
“This is a clear manifestation that indeed all political leaders in Angeles City, Mabalacat and Magalang are gearing towards one mission and vision,” Pamintuan said.
