ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan yesterday ordered the newly-installed city police director to wage an all-out war against illegal drugs, describing it as a menace to society.

Pamintuan gave the marching order to Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono Jr., new city police director here, during their first meeting at the city hall yesterday.

“Get those drug pushers. Remove all those men in uniform who want to do illegal acts,” said Pamintuan.

He expressed disappointment over his experiences in the past when policemen themselves get involved in various illegal activities, notably in drugs.

For his part, Recomono said he is a “very approachable officer.” He, however, stressed that he is “not approachable when you want to help someone facing drug raps.”

A native of Albay province and part of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1987, Recomono vowed to tap the services of barangay officials in the war against illegal drugs. He was formerly assigned at the police directorate office in the Philippine National Police (PNP) general headquarters in Quezon City before being named Angeles City police director.

He said he used to be the police chief in Antipolo City and Binangonan in Rizal province.
