Where do you go if you crave for a 30-inch American pizza loaded with real imported mozzarella cheese and the freshest vegetables, meat, pepperoni, nachos or shrimp at about 2:00 in the morning?

Only Sub Delicious, the home of original American Buffalo Wings and Hoagies, serves the biggest pizza in the country 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “I don’t even have a key to the front door,” said Thomas Milani, son of 85-year old Sarah Milani who started their family’s original Sub Delicious pizza store in New York in the early ‘70s.

Sub Delicious Jumbo Pizza is one the restaurant’s bestsellers, especially the call-center agents working in Clark. It can feed 20 people at the same time as far the locals are concerned. But Caucasians could probably finish one pizza with just two or three buddies.

Successfully serving locals and tourists alike for the past six years, Milani said Sub Delicious’ magic could be attributed to the quality of food they offer.

“We were the first restaurant in this part of Angeles City that brought the true spirit of US flavour. We have real pizzas, hoagies, submarine sandwiches, steak, apple pie, roast beef and the spicy Buffalo wings served with cool blue cheese and carrot that are popular in US. People try new places when someone opens a restaurant around here, but they always come back to us because of the quality of our food,” Milani said.

A true-blooded Sicilian descendant matched with his 38 years of restaurant experience, Milani is a key player to the success of Sub Delicious. In our brief talk, he proudly admits that he is always hands-on from the lobby to the sports bar at the second floor of Sub Delicious’ den along Fields Avenue. He is especially busy at the kitchen where they make real dough for their pizzas.

“We make the dough for our pizza. We cut the vegetables ourselves. We blend our own sauces. We prepare everything from scratch just how it should be done traditionally. No frozen ingredients, all fresh,” Milani said. He added that they are likewise particular with the sanitation of their food. “We only serve clean and healthy food. We value cleanliness and the protection of our clients,” he said.

Milani is very proud of their submarine and hoagies. Sub Delicious’ all submarine sandwich consists of lettuce, diced onions and tomatoes and the choices of meats like  ham, luncheon meat, tuna, salami, with veggies, cheese, BLT, assorted, Philly cheese steak, pizza sub and meatball sub in 12 inches and eight (8) inches” Italian submarine roll toast to perfection.

Their hot hoagie rolls are built on 12 and eight inches hoagy roll served with choice of meat with melted cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes and onions.

Aside from the delightful foods, Milani said he wants Sub Delicious to be a home to everyone, especially to Filipinos. “Since we are not a girly bar, we want the place to be cozy and comfortable enough for families. We already added Filipino meals with rice in our menu while the children enjoy our ice creams and other desserts,” Milani said.

And speaking of sweets, a friend from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Tonette Orejas said Sub Delicious Apple Pie is the best ever pie she tasted in years. “Ï would travel all the way from San Fernando to visit the restaurant and order one of their delicious, savoury, smooth mouth-watering apple pie,” Orejas said.

Sub Delicious also offers entertainment and music for the bar goers while it has a billiard tables for the sports lovers. Now nearing their 30th anniversary on July, Milani is planning to come up with more activities to continue Sub Delicious’ charity works.

For years now, Milani said they have been hosting the Fat Boys Ten Rugby Tournament which is being participated in by a lot of white executives all over the Pacific. They play at the Challenger’s Field inside Clark Air Force while the proceeds of the game are being donated to the Bahay Bata Center in Angeles City.
