BACOLOR, Pampanga – The ambassador of Spain to the Philippines, Jorge Manuel Domecq, is set to visit the former capital of the country on October 29 as part of the 250th founding anniversary of the town.

This was announced during the anniversary event on Monday and the unveiling of the marker of the Governor-General Simon de Anda who established a new Spanish base here after British soldiers captured Manila in 1772.

“Of course, it’s an honor to host the ambassador. It will help catch attention from other nations helping generate tourism and possible investments,” said Laus, who grew up in Barangay San Vicente, here.

For her part, Pineda said the ambassador’s visit “is most welcome and will add a sense of love of history to residents.”

Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon said they will present to Domecq “the past and present of Bacolor after the Spaniards left their town.”

“We will show them that our town is improving especially after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo,” said Hizon.
