Named SM Megacenter Cabanatuan, the four-level edifice is a vast improvement of the former Megacenter the Mall which was acquired by SM Prime Holdings in 2013 from the CHAS Realty and Development Corp.
Immediately after the launching rites, Hans Sy, president and chief operating officer of SM Prime Holdings and City Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara opened the doors of the mall for the throng of mall-goers eager to shop in this first of two SM malls set to operate here.
Also present during the event were Herbert Sy, director of SM Prime Holdings and adviser to the board of the SM Investment Corp.; Annie Garcia, president of the SM Supermalls; Bien Mateo, SM senior vice president for Northern Luzon operations; Rheybie Nipas, assistant vice president for operation; Jeremy Reynes, assistant mall manager; and Venus Manalang, SM City Clark public relations manager.
The newly opened mall here has a ground floor area of 50,000 square meters and a very spacious parking area. Included among the 150 stores and tenants inside the mall are SM affiliates SM Store, Ace Hardware, SM Appliance Center, and Savemore Markets which offer a wide range of grocery products, fresh produce and international goods.
Food stalls include homegrown establishments Vicenticos, Cakeland, and Joeys, as well as Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwiich, Inasal, Red Ribbon, among others.
Officials of the SM Megacenter Cabanatuan said there will be more stalls dedicated to health and wellness, technology and lifestyle center, service centers in cyberzone, recreational amenities that include for digital cinemas, and other named tenants usually sought by customers.
The mall management said in a statement that their areas are safely protected by highend security system. Its security team, it said, has undergone cus- Bigger mall set to open this year tomer-centric programs which focus on protecting and assisting mall goers.
Later this year, a bigger branch of the SM Mall will open its doors to serve the public. This mall, now undergoing full development, is located along the Maharlika Highway, about four kilometers north of the SM Megacenter Cabanatuan.
When completed, this other SM mall here has been described as the largest SM mall in Luzon outside of the Metro Manila area.
