CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – If the votes are enough, a Pampanga bloc can shape up in Congress after June.

Aside from the regular representations of the province’s four districts, four more people are on the wing to be additional voices in the House of Representatives.

There’s incumbent second district Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo who confirmed he is being asked by several “moderate” party-lists to be their nominee.

Two sources among local officials said Arroyo might pick Ang Galing Pinoy. The elder son of President Macapagal-Arroyo declined to answer this or name the group he is likely to join.

Arroyo, according to the local officials, is taking the party-list option after he gave up run for a third and last term to give way to his mother’s congressional bid.

AG, as its initials is registered, was not able to get a seat in Congress in 2007, having gotten only 15,651 votes, according to an official tally of the Commission on Elections.

The three other party-list seats in the looming Pampanga bloc are eyed from Butil Farmers Party (Butil), Association of Laborers and Employees (Ale) and Coalition of Associations of Senior Citizens in the Country (Senior Citizens).

Their nominees are Kapampangans namely Rep. Agapito Guanlao, Catalina Bagasina and Linda David, respectively.

Representatives Carmelo Lazatin (1st Dist.), Aurelio Gonzales (3rd Dist.) and Dr. Anna York Bondoc (4th Dist.) are seeking reelection and are all allies of President Macapagal-Arroyo.

She has not confirmed or denied if she aims to be the Speaker in Congress.

As for Rep. Arroyo’s party-list chance, “I haven’t said yes to anybody yet. I want to find time for my family.”

He also clarified reports that he has an ongoing spat with his mother over her congressional run.

“Mahal na mahal ko ang nanay ko. I’m proud to be her son. She does her work. She’s more dignified that those who claim they’re the epitome of goodness. They’re un-Christian because they’re attacking her to boost their popularity,” he said, without referring to any person.

Asked if he was bound to be out of public office, he replied: “I can be helping in private capacity.”
