BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A bridge that connects a coastal village with other fishing villages in Balanga City was inaugurated on Saturday coinciding with the observance of International Coastal Cleanup Day.
Gov. Enrique Garcia said that the bridge was made possible through the cooperation of various agencies of government.
“The agencies cooperated with each other in the same way that thousands of people joined the yearly observance of International Cleanup Day showing full support for the activity,” the Bataan governor said.
Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III said that the construction of the bridge will further boost the birdwatching program being promoted by the city government.
The bridge connects the fishing villages of barangays Puerto Rivas and Sibacan with barangay Tortugas, likewise a fishing village. All three barangays were declared as birdwatching sites in the city.
Thousands of migratory birds start coming in these villages before the end of September until March every year.
Finished in six months, the P23.3 million-Catalino Dizon Bridge is 50.1 meters long and 8.10 meters wide.
