ORANI, Bataan – The Orani Fish Landing and Trading Facility in Barangay Pantalan Bago here officially opened on July 1, providing fisherfolk, traders, and buyers with a cleaner, safer, and more efficient venue for trading aquatic products.
Recognized as the largest and most modern fish port in the province, the facility is expected to strengthen Orani’s position as a major trading hub for both freshwater and saltwater products while helping revive its long-standing reputation as one of Central Luzon’s key fishing centers.

For years, buyers from various parts of the region have traveled to Orani to source aquatic products such as mud crabs and shrimp. With the opening of the new facility, the local government anticipates increased market activity, higher investments, and expanded business opportunities that will directly benefit local fisherfolk, vendors, and fish traders.

Funded through the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bataan and the Municipal Government of Orani, the P184-million infrastructure subproject was established to improve post-harvest handling and provide a modern trading environment that supports the growing needs of the local fisheries industry.

Beyond providing a dedicated marketplace, the facility is envisioned to reduce post-harvest losses, improve product quality, and create better income opportunities for fishing communities by connecting them to a wider network of buyers. DA-PRDP
