OLONGAPO CITY — The City Government of Olongapo kicked off its Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month celebration on October 2 with an activity highlighting the culture, traditions and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in the city.

The opening activity was held at Tralala, Gordon Heights, RDUCK Farm, led by Mayor Atty. Rolen C. Paulino Jr. in coordination with the City Agriculture Department.

IP Representative Barry Esteban, along with members of various IP Councils, also took part in the activity as the city began a series of initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare and participation of Indigenous Peoples in the community.

The celebration underscored the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of Indigenous Peoples while recognizing their role in the development of Olongapo.

The city government said the month-long observance also aims to strengthen coordination among the local government, IP Councils and other sectors in developing programs and services responsive to the needs of Indigenous Peoples.

Through the IP Month activities, the city continues to promote greater recognition, participation and appreciation of Indigenous Peoples as an integral part of Olongapo’s diverse community.
