In a statement, Nolcom said that on election day, its forces were “deployed in strategic locations as deputized by the Commission on Elections and in coordination with other concerned agencies, to ensure the security of polling places and safety of voters.”
Nolcom covers the regions of Central Luzon, Ilocos, Cagayan and the Cordillera autonomous area.
“Checkpoints and visibility policies within the prescribed distance from the polling precincts were implemented, together with the police, at pre-designated areas to control unwanted situations,” Nolcom said.
It noted that its personnel from the Joint Task Forces (JTF) “Kaugnay” of the 7th Infantry Division, JTF “Tala” from the 5th Infantry Division, and JTF “Karagatan” of the Naval Forces-Northern Luzon were also activated under the Joint Security Coordinating Centers to monitor all election- related activities and updates at the regional, provincial and municipal levels.
