CLARK FREEPORT — The North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) are ready to absorb the surge of traffic expected this All Saints’ Day, in part by increasing the number of booths for vehicles with radio-frequency identification (RFID).

In a press briefing, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (Metro Pacific) senior vice president for communications Romulo Quimbo said that at the Bocaue and Balintawak exits, RFID lanes have been increased to 40.

Quimbo also announced that construction activities along NLEx and SCTEx are to be suspended up to November 4 unless repairs are necessary for the safety of motorists.

Starting last October 25, more NLEx and SCTEx traffic personnel started closely monitoring and managing traffic operations in the areas of Balintawak, Mindanao Avenue, Bocaue, Sta. Ines, Tarlac, and Tipo toll plazas.

From October 26 to November 2, the Balintawak plaza will open a maximum of 24 toll collection points while Mindanao Avenue, Tarlac, and Tipo plazas will open 10, 15 and six collection points respectively to lessen motorists’ waiting time, Quimbo also said.

He also said that from November 1 to 4, the Bocaue toll barrier will have a maximum of 55 collections points for Manila-bound motorists.
