(Mabalacat City Mayor Cris Garbo leads Halloween ‘trick or treat’ at the city hall.)
MABALACAT CITY — For the first time in the history of the city, the local government unit here led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo on Monday embarked on a Hallowern treat or trick activity for children and “cute souls” here.
Through the initiative of Mayor Garbo, offices in the city hall were spruced up with skeletons, coffins, mock crypts of the beleguered Barrettos, Jack-o-Lanterns, manananggals, bat patterns, witches and other cute crafts which made the occasion fun, cute, colorful, dark and spooky.
Hallways and every nook and cranny of offices were littered with strange figures, evident that the City Hall was in for a Trick-o-Treat.
The day was committed to the children who were in for a treat, and no tricks. Throngs of superheroes, witches and other cute impersonators playfully accosted for sweets from the Mayor’s staff who were well-prepared for the hunt.
Garbo led the giving-out of candies to hoarders while Vice Mayor Atty. Geld could not stop smiling as he loaded chocolates in their baskets of treats.
“Truly it was a day when everybody else will share a sweet or two to the lovable creatures. This is also our way of giving our children treats with a fun-filled experience,” Garbo said.
The hallowed day was not as dark as others thought it should be, as it was dedicated for the cuties and huggables dressed as monsters, fairies, or superheroes – the children. This is another occasion that exalts giving/sharing as a human virtue.
“We are grateful to Mayor Cris Garbo, for a fun-filled treat that our children have experienced. Ngayon lamang po ito nangyari sa pamamalakad ng ating city hall na ang isang Mayor na katulad niya (Mayor Garbo) lamang ang nagbigay ng kasiyahan sa paggunita ng Halloween,” Erwin Narciso, city government utility and electrician, stressed. 30
