ANGELES CITY – Some 1,300 city hall workers here stand to benefit from the signing of a new Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) between the employees union and the city government.

The Association of Government Employees for a New and Dynamic Angeles (AGENDA) represented by its president, Eduardo Sanchez, and Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan signed the new CNA which will be in effect for three years.

The signing was held at the session hall of the sangguniang panglunsod after the flag-raising ceremony here yesterday. As a signing bonus, city hall employees will receive P12,000 each and stand to benefit from the improved provisions of the new CNA.

After the signing, Sanchez immediately expressed his gratitude to Mayor Pamintuan saying: “Nagpapasalamat po ako dahil kung wala po ang suporta nila sa amin hindi po namin maipapa-abot ang mga pangangailangan ng mga kawani (We are thankful because without their support, we will not be able to deliver the needs of our members).”

For his part, Pamintuan said from the time he was city mayor in 1996, he has already encouraged and even inspired city hall employees to form their union so that their interests can be protected.

“For me it is important to form a union in order to protect the rights and interests of the workers. Ito ay nakakatulong sa kanilang kabutihan at sa kanilang interes (This will help in their welfare and in their interests),” the mayor said.

The officers of the LGUBaguio City Employees Association, Inc. (LGU-BEAI) led by their president Ramon Manuel Micu as well as offi cers of the Mabalacat City Government Employees Association (MAGEA) led by their president Rodrigo De Leon were on hand as a show of solidarity and support to AGENDA.
