MABALACAT CITY — Motorcycle riders in this city are enjoined by the police to secure clearance and identification cards to avoid hassles when travelling around the city.

City police director Supt. Ruel Cagape said the program is in line with the “Philippine National Police (PNP) Clean Riders” program recently implemented nationwide in response to the several cases of robbery and hold-up where the suspects use motorcycles in what is notoriously known as “riding in tandem.”

Criminals on board motorcycles prey on unsuspecting victims usually senior citizens and women.

Newshen Minerva Z. Arceo recently fell victim to riding-in tandem-criminals when she lost her wallet tucked under her arm which was snatched by suspects on a motorcycle.

Arceo was injured after she fell on the ground caused by the force of the snatching.

Cagape advised motorcycle riders to fill up application forms at the Mabalacat Police Station.

The program is applicable to both single motorcycle riders and tricycle drivers.

“Get your Clean Riders ID and sticker now available at our station located at the old municipal building in Barangay Poblacion. It’s free,” Cagape said.

The requirements include a photo copy of the OR/CR and driver’s license.

Cagape said second hand owners must submit their notarized proof of ownership while those under installment basis should secure a certification from their distributor stating their names and details of the motorcycle also duly notarized.
