The 23-year-old beauty queen submitted her application for the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 pageant early today, January 8, at the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated (BPCI) in Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City.
In an Instagram post, Catriona thanked her fans for their unwavering support especially now that she’s embarking on a new chapter of her life.
She wrote, “Are you ready for it? Today marks the reveal of an evolution of self that has been quietly happening away from the public’s eye for a little while now.
“It was in no way planned, but sometimes the stars align to make things happen.
“Maraming Salamat sa inyong tiwala at sana samahan niyo ako sa aking bagong paglalakbay.”
Catriona was asked why she decided to join the Binibining PIlipinas pageant. She answered, “I felt like I had an unfinished business, but also, I really enjoyed being a charity spokesperson for the longest time, so what bigger platform could I ask for.”
Catriona was crowned Miss World Philippines in October 2016.
Two months later, she represented the country in the Miss World 2016 pageant held at Maryland, USA and made a top 5 finish.
Puerto Rico’s Stephanie del Valle eventually won the crown. Catriona previously trained under Aces & Queens for the Miss World Philippines pageant, but decided to join Binibining Pilipinas as an independent candidate.
