The Miss Universe 2018 Top 5 finisher captioned one of her posts: “Today with bare feet, in traditional costume of the Ede people, I am truly proud to bear the title of Miss Universe Vietnam.”
In her speech, H’Hen Nie looked back on her two-year reign as Miss Vietnam and expressed her deep gratitude for the opportunity.
Part of her caption read: “I want to use the word ‘Thank you’.
“’Thank you’ to everyone who have accompanied me all the way. Thanks to all, friends, bro, sis… who have been with me to create this wonderful youth.
“And ‘Thank you’ to my family, for being the most spiritual support of me all the time. Thanks for all your love…
“Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
H’Hen Nie’s life story became a trending topic last year. The Miss Universe 2018 finalist moved to Ho Chi Minh at 14 after she refused to follow tradition and marry at that age.
She financed her way through college by working multiple jobs— as a maid, a tutor, a leaflet deliverer, and a model.
In 2015, H’Hen Nie joined Vietnam’s Next Top Model, and made it to the Top 9.
This experience boosted her self confidence.
Three years later, H’Hen Nie made her mark in Miss Universe 2018.
H’Hen Nie then passed on her Miss Vietnam crown to Nguyen Tran Khanh Van.

ANGELICA PANGANIBAN and Coco Martin are paired for Star Cinema’s Valentine movie for 2020 titled Love or Money. The film will be directed by Mae Czarina Cruz.
For the past three years, the ABS-CBN actor has been starring in movies produced by his own film outfit, CCM Productions.
He will be paired with Angelica Panganiban in a movie titled Love or Money, directed by Mae Cruz.
The story conference was held last December 10, at the Star Cinema office.
According to Star Cinema’s Instagram post, Love or Money will be the film outfit’s Valentine presentation for 2020.
This will be the first time that Angelica and Coco will be paired together in a movie.
In the past, they were able to work with each other in the prime-time series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, when Angelica did a guest appearance in 2016.
During the story con, Coco was asked how he managed to shoot the movie while directing FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which has airing since 2015.
Angelica quipped, “Stop muna yung Probinsyano, ako lang yung nakapagpatigil! Wait lang daw muna, ha. Wait lang.”
Coco then answered, “Actually maayos naman yung schedule. Sanay din naman ako na habang nagpo-Probinsyano, nakakagawa ng pelikula.
“Pinaghahandaan kasi talaga namin ito. Ang wish namin mahabol talaga for Valentine’s.”
Because Coco is already used to doing FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano for the past four years, he admitted that he feels tense regarding this new project.
He said, “Kinakabahan kasi bagong kombinasyon and defi nitely, yung project, ibang-iba sa Probinsyano, e. Ngayon, siyempre, nae-excite ako dahil babalik ako sa drama, at the same time, si Angge [Angelica], napakahusay na artista sa drama and comedy kaya nakaka-pressure para sa akin.”
Angelica said that she is excited to be working again with Coco after her stint in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
“Ang exciting kasi ang tagal natin siyang nakikita sa Probinsyano, and nakapag-Probinsyano ako pero sobrang sandali lang, mga isang buwan lang.
“So iba rin yung magiging experience na makagawa kami ng movie together.”
According to Direk Mae Cruz, the concept of Love or Money came from Star Cinema managing director Olivia Lamasan.
Direk Mae explained, “This concept has been with Star for a long time now. It was originally Direk Olive Lamasan’s concept.
“They waited for the right time na magawa itong konseptong ito and the perfect casting.
“And then, when they found the perfect casting for this, that’s when they realized na this is the perfect Valentine’s offering for 2020.”
Direk Mae also said that the movie offers a “good mix” of romance, drama, and comedy.
