MABALACAT CITY – Hundreds of chanting, shouting residents representing various multi-sectoral groups and barangay officials joined Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales in filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) for re-election on Monday.

“We love you,” read banners and streamers held by supporters of Morales who is vying to be the first full-term city of mayor of this 300-year-old former first class municipality.

“We can always rely on Boking every minute of the day, all year long. The mayor has been tried, tested and proven most efficient and effective in the delivery of services to his people,” said Jess Dizon, member of urban poor association in Barangay Dau.

The Mabalacat Womens’ Group (MWG) led by Morales’ wife, Nina Manipon, also came in full force to show the “unwavering support and love for the mayor.”

Through the assistance of Gov. Lilia Pineda and Morales, the MWG officials were able to sponsor livelihood assistance programs and workshops to more than 4,000 women members.

Twenty-six of the 27 barangay captains of this city also accompanied Morales when he filed his COC with his ticket led by his vice mayor running-mate, Councilor Elizabeth “Liza” Pineda.

“The overwhelming show of support today only means that we are heading for the big win altogether,” said Pineda. The councilors are Rox Pena, Froy Galang, Carlo Rivera, Joey Santos, Jeng Yumul, Bok Tiglao, Dwight Morales, Krizzanel “WinWin” Garbo, Eddie Sotto and Tom Manalo.

Public transport drivers’ associations and other sectors came to support the candidacy of Morales and his partymates with Kapanalig at Kambilan Ning Memalen Pampanga (KAMBILAN) headed by Gov. Pineda.
