CLARK FREEPORT – The last patch of cement was poured on the 16th fl oor of the $60 million Marriott Hotel here as part of its topping off ceremony on Thursday.

The Marriott Hotel Clark which is being constructed next to the Widus Hotel and Casino here is reputed to be the first 5-star class hotel in this freeport. It broke ground in November last year and is expected to be completed on November 2018.

Daesik Han, Widus president/CEO, said our partners are delighted and very much impressed with the progress of the work and they are very confident to be one of the best compact Marriot Hotels among their collections.

“I’ve been working with Mr. Han and with representatives from the project management company and I am really delighted to see how well the design has been done and how well the construction is going,” said Paul Scanlan, Marriot Global Design and Marriott project director.

“We are looking forward to the opening of the hotel,” he added. “I think it’s a great event. I think this is really going to showcase a Marriott within the region,” said Marriott’s Barry Witington.

“We are very pleased to be here today and we are pleased with the progress that’s happening on site,” he said.

“Construction looks great and it’s very well organized, very clean and tidy site and we are all looking forward to the completion and opening,” he added.

“We are so proud to be here for the unveiling of the (Marriott) logo and the topping off ceremony. This hotel is going to be the market leader in Clark,” said Shia Liang, Director for Development for Marriot International.

“It’s been an honor with working with such incredible partner. They’ve been so collaborative and we’re sure that we are going to achieve this vision of having a fantastic hotel in Clark,” she added.

In 2015, Widus International Leisure, Inc. (WILI), owner of Widus Hotel and Casino, signed a hotel management agreement with Renaissance Hotels International Corp. Ltd., the company behind the successful chain of Marriott Hotels for The Marriott at Clark project.

The agreement will allow Marriott Hotel to operate The Marriott at Clark, which is set to break ground at the Widus property here in May next year.

Han, the South Korean president and CEO of WILI, said the Marriott Clark represents the latest and most innovative hotel within the Widus complex, “a final cap to our vision of being the preferred one-stop leisure destination,” he added.

The Marriott at Clark will serve the high-end market while Widus will focus on the middle market.

The new Marriott at Clark is rated as Pampanga’s first five-star hotel. It will have approximately 260 room keys.

The Marriott at Clark will feature the usual Marriott facilities such as the Goji Kitchen and Bar, Great Room, Pool Bar, Executive Lounge and the Ballroom and Meeting Places.
