CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo of Mabalacat City tested positive for the coronavirus disease Saturday.
“It saddens my heart to inform my fellow Mabalaqueños that despite following health protocol, I have tested positive for Covid-19,” said the mayor in an official statement released Monday.
Meanwhile, in the Facebook page of the Our Lady of Grace Parish of Mabalacat on Sunday, the faithful was asked for prayers for the healing of the Rev. Msgr. Jose U Lacap who also contracted Covid-19.
It was announced that due to his condition, “all physical activities for the Holy Week 2021 are cancelled. “The parish church and rectory have also been temporarily closed “until further notice.”
Garbo, a graduate of medicine, said he developed “elevated body temperature” on Friday and immediately had himself tested and placed in isolation pending the RT-PCR result which came out Saturday.
“I have personally informed most of the people whom I interacted with in the past week, and a full-scale contact tracing is ongoing. In spite of the fact that I always wear face mask, face shield and observe physical distancing whenever I go out, I still urge everyone who has come in contact with me in the past few days to have themselves tested,” he said, adding that he was in good physical condition inside a medical facility.
Garbo renewed his call for his constituents to “take this pandemic seriously and do our part in order to stop the spreading of this virus,” assuring them that even in isolation he would continue dispensing his duties “remotely as a public servant in the best possible way.”
“I ask the people of Mabalacat City to fervently pray not only for our community but also for the world to overcome the challenges that brought about by this pandemic. God bless Mabalacat City!” the mayor’s official statement concluded.
