CABANATUAN CITY – Mayor Myca Elizabeth Vergara disclosed on Sunday that she is presently in quarantine after her driver and two staff members tested positive for Covid-19.

“Sa ngayon po ay aking hinihintay ang resulta ng aking RT-PCR test sapagkat ako ay kinokonsidera na close contact nila,” Vergara said in a statement.

She also reported that the active Covid-19 cases in the city surged to 78 in a span of two weeks as 21 new infections were reported on Sunday.

At the city hall compound alone, 24 cases turned positive in RT-PCR tests even as some others were reactive to antigen test, the mayor said.

Among the offices with positive cases were the city social welfare and development office with seven; city police station, five; city mayor’s office, four; and one each in the city assessor’s office, city disaster risk reduction management office, MV Gallego Cabanatuan City General Hospital, office of the city building official, city planning and development office, city economic enterprise and public utilities management office, local civil registry, and city engineer’s office.

Kailangan nating maging mas maingat at disiplinado.

She called on the public to report any violation of rules to contain the spread of Covid-19.

“Huwag pong mag-aatubiling makipag-ugnayan sa inyong mga barangay health emergency response team kung nakakaramdam ng anumang sintomas,” she said, as the city government is ready and capable of helping patients.

Magtulungan po tayo,” she said.
