FACEMASK LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM. Ten local designers here on September 25, 2020 pledged to assist the city government’s facemask livelihood program during a meeting presided by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.’s Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel.

ANGELES CITY – Ten local designers here on September 25, 2020 pledged to assist the city government’s facemask livelihood program.

This was gleaned during a meeting presided by Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s chief adviser and tactician IC Calaguas.

In an effort to help some of its residents recover financially and protect the environment, Mayor Lazatin recently launched a facemask livelihood program.

Calaguas said the city government called out some local designers to create designs and patterns for the facemask livelihood program.

“Humingi po tayo ng tulong sa ating mga local designers upang pangunahan nila ang nasabing facemask livelihood program at mabigyan nila ng gabay ang mga mananahing kasama sa project na ito. At nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila dahil agad naman silang tumugon,” said the long-time political officer of the Lazatin family.

Some of the local designers who answered the call of Mayor Lazatin to create designs and patterns for the facemask livelihood program are Marlon Tuazon, Jhune Angeles, Cholo Ayuyao, Rosette Ramos-Biag, Jojo Macapinlac, Frederick Policarpio, Manny Ocampo, Philip Torres, Mich Viray and Danica Zita.

Under the said program, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel explained, the city government will hire home-based ‘mananahi’ to produce reusable facemasks and Personal Protective Equipment that will be donated to the frontline workers of Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center

Meanwhile, the facemasks, which will be produced by the home-based mananahis will be given for free to the poorest of the poor residents.

“Required na magproduce ng 250 facemasks per week, and 20 PPEs per month ang isang mananahi. Ibibigay sa mga frontline workers natin sa Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Health Office at Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center ang mga nagawang PPEs,” Calaguas furthered.

Lazatin said this program’s main objective is to promote reusable alternatives for facemasks and PPEs, while providing sustainable livelihood for marginalized sectors including solo parents, persons with disability (PWDs), stay-at-home parents, and women’s groups.

Also present during the meeting are Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office OIC Irish Bonus-Llego, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles, Angeles City Tourism Officer Anneleen Sugui and Tourism Consultant Cecille Flores.
