ANGELES CITY – Re-elected First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin on Wednesday took his oath as member of the incoming 15th Congress, vowing to help create the first public college here.

Lazatin said he will assist mayor-elect Atty. Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan in his plan to establish a city college catering to less fortunate residents. In simple ceremonies, Lazatin took his oath of office before Branch 59 Executive Judge Ma. Angelica Paras-Quiambao at the Hall of Justice here.

“With my experience and support of dynamic minds led by Pamintuan, we can have the first public college within this term,” said Lazatin, the only Pampanga politician who was part of the House of Representatives shortly after democracy had been restored through the People Power Revolution in 1986.

Lazatin also vowed to help Pamintuan “restore the glory days at ONA (Ospital Ning Angeles).”

“The sick people, especially if they are poor, should get the treatment they deserve. Medicines should be readily available at ONA,” added Lazatin, who was accompanied by re-elected Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, congressional chief of staff IC Calaguas and his son Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin.

Lazatin said he would also asked for the turning of the Angeles-Magalang road into a national highway so that there will be more funds for its major rehabilitation.

“The major road in my district should be expanded and improved to meet the bigger flow of traffic,” said Lazatin.

But Lazatin assured his people that “as always, my resources will be equally distributed in the three areas of my district.”

The second-term solon said his projects in education through the granting of scholarships, repair of major roads and assistance to farmers will be continued.
