CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The suspect in the killing of an accountant of the Tarlac City local government has been “positively identifi ed” although he has remained at large.

A report from the Tarlac City police said it has launched a manhunt for Jessie Cadiang, business partner of victim Corazon Cano-Ofrecio whose body was found in a grassy vacant lot in a creek in Barangay Lawy in Capas, Tarlac last June 21.

Ofrecio was reported missing last June18 when she failed to report to work.

Police cited the testimony of the victim’s nephew Eduardo Ofrecio who reported seeing his aunt ride a black Toyota Vios in front of Metro Town Mall in Tarlac City at about 8 a.m.

on June 18. Eduardo said the vehicle was owned by Jessie Cadiang and that after he learned that his aunt did not show up for work the following day, he sought Cadiang in his home in Barangay Suizo in the city.

He said Cadiang was not in his house and that he found traces of blood inside.

Police said that a video footage indicated that Ofrecio withdrew from her Land Bank ATM account at about 7:49 a.m. on June 18 but that at about 5:22 am the following day, it was Cadiang who had withdrawn from her account.

Police said Cadiang is an employee of Phelps Dodge Philippines at the Luisita Industrial Park here where he is known as “money lender” to his co-employees.

Ofrecio was reportedly Cadiang’s financier and that the victim had earlier filed a case of non-payment of debt against him.

Cadiang’s whereabouts have remained unknown since Ofrecio went missing.

His black car was found abandoned in the parking lot of Max’s restaurant in Barangay San Miguel in the city.

The Capas police headed by Supt. Noriel Rombaoa filed a case of murder against Cadiang who has remained at large.
