This developed as Jetstar Asia Airways launched its direct flights from the CIA to Singapore’s Changi Airport on Tuesday and later held a formal ceremony at the Park Inn Hotel by Radisson Clark here.
Bara Pasupathi, Jetstar Asia CEO, was at the CIA to personally send off the airlines 188 passengers. He said the Clark-Singapore flights will take place three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
On Tuesday, Jetstar flight 3K777 departed from Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 1 for CIA at 2.20 am, arrived in Clark at 6 am before leaving Clark at 7 am and touching down in Singapore at 10.40 am under flight 3K778.
Clark is the second city in the Philippines that Jetstar Asia flies to and the third new destination for the Singapore-based low cost airline this year.
“Following the successful inaugural launches of our new destinations in Hat Yai and Okinawa this month, we are most encouraged by the reception of our customers in Singapore and the Philippines on our new services to Clark,” Pasupathi said.
“Low fares carriers like Jetstar have been operating in the Philippines for many years and has transformed the way people travel. The accessibility afforded to travelers has also opened up new destinations that they may never have seriously considered,” he continued.
“Since we announced the news of our services from Calrk, demand for our services has been positive and we are happy to announce that we will be adding three additional services over the Christmas and New Year period in anticipation of the increased demand,” he added.
The additional flights will operate between December 21 and January 4 on top of the thrice weekly flights of the airline.
Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) OIC Alexander Cauguiran welcomed the development saying Jetstar’s business decision to mount flights at Clark is in recognition of the latter’s marketability and the increasing number of the airport’s local destinations.
“The Clark-Singapore flights will definitely boost our operations as we are looking sat more travelers who may now choose Clark to fl y Jetstar,” he said.
Tourist destinations in Clark now include Aqua Planet water theme park, touted to be one of the biggest of its kind in Asia, which opened recently.
Clark is the third new destination to launch inaugural flights to by Jetstar Asia after Hatyai and Naha this month.
