Glicerio “Ka GP” Santos IV, DPWH Undersecretary Emil Sadain, National Task Force COVID-19 chief implementer and Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., Bulacan 1st District Rep. Jose Antonio Sy-Alvarado, Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects and BCDA President and CEO Sec. Vince Dizon, and Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Joel Garcia inspect one of the cubicles in the We Heal as One Center (WHAOC) – Philippine Arena on Thursday, 30 April 2020.

The We Heal As One Center-Philippine Arena Ciudad de Victoria in Bulacan is ready to receive COVID-19 patients after the facility was turned over by the Iglesia Ni Criso (INC) to the national government on Thursday.

“We would like to thank our kapatiran sa Iglesia headed by Chief Minister Eduardo Manalo. The government would like to thank you for your generosity. Kitangkita namin na ang spirit of bayanihan is very much alive,” said National Task Force COVID-19 chief implementer and Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr.

Some 87 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Spain and Italy are also currently staying at The Garden Suites in Ciudad de Victoria to complete their 14-day mandatory quarantine.

Galvez, together with Iglesia Ni Cristo Official and Maligaya Development Corp. Chief Operating Officer Atty. Glicerio “Ka GP” Santos IV, Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects and BCDA President and CEO Sec. Vince Dizon, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Emil Sadain, Philippine Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Joel Garcia, Department of Health (DOH) Assistant Secretary Leonita Gorgolon, and DPWH Build Build Build Committee Chairperson Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo inspected the three mega tents converted into a quarantine facility.

Undersecretary Sadain, head of the Task Force on Augmentation of Healthcare Facilities, said the We Heal As One Center-Philippine Arena can accommodate 300 patients and was completed in just 10 days. The Philippine Arena is one of the facilities converted by the government into quarantine centers as part of the strategy to locate, isolate and cure. It will be manned by 50 medical personnel from the Department of Health (DOH).

“Ang ating strategy, kailangan natin i-trace yung posibleng may infection, so we locate them and then we test them. Pero hindi tumitigil doon; kailangan mo sila i-isolate kasi pag hindi mo in-isolate, magse-spread yung infection sa communities. Kailangan din siguraduhin na ma-cure sila. Ang sistema na ito ay hand-in-hand,” said Dizon.

The We Heal As One Centers provides 24/7 health care, and have air-conditioned cubicles, free meals for the patients and frontliners, and free internet connection.

The Villar Group of Companies provided hospital beds at the facility, while the MVP Group of Companies will provide free access for medical workers and patients via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX); free internet use via PLDT/SMART Communications; free connection to water supply from Maynilad Water Services; and free installation of power lines and connection to the Meralco grid.
