CLARK FREEPORT – Former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, now 87, is “energized as never before in a long time.”

“She is the ultimate politician,” her son vice presidential candidateSen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said in a press conference here yesterday.

Marcos noted that his mom has been taking over his appointments in cases of conflict of schedule in his campaign trail.

“I now see her as the campaigner whom I had witnessed when I was just a young boy. She is the ultimate politician,” Marcos said.

He said “I have never seen her as energized in a long time because of this campaign.”

Mrs. Marcos is unopposed in her bid for re-election for Congress in the second district of Ilocos Sur. thus enabling her to find more time to campaign for her son.

“We don’t really discuss (survey) ratings. We talk about who to talk to and what to do,” Marcos said.

This, even as Marcos lamented the moves of the Aquino government to privatize public facilities and utilities.

“Utilities should not be privatized because they should not be profit- oriented. They should be for public service.

Such privatization is anti- poor. If you put a hospital in private hands, the motive will always be profit because businessmen want profit,” he stressed.

Marcos lamented plans to merge the Development Bank of the Philippines and the Land Bank of the Philippines. “In that case, we will no longer have an agricultural bank that can really help our farmers,” he noted.

At the same time, Marcos also cited reports that doctors are trying “medications” on his presidential running mate Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, but he declined to give details.

“My prayers are with her,” he stressed.
