How to win the cold war

THE COLD season is approaching and so is the cold virus. I know some friends who stock up on tissues as they apparently become the favorite hosts of the virus which is not even alive unless it invades your cells and multiply its particles inside.

Before I left Italy two weeks ago, cool air started to take over. Though it is refreshing from the point of view of a person coming from a tropical country, the Italians aren’t so happy about it for it means not only cold season but Covid-19 high season as well.

Sneezing, runny nose, headache, clogged nose, itchy or sore throat or both, postnasal drip, watery eyes, low grade fever are the warning symptoms of cold.

To win any battle, you need to be well prepared. Start by making sure you have adequate nutrients to keep your immune system in top shape. Your health supplements should at least include 7500iu of vitamin A, 2000mg of vitamin C, vitamin B5, B6, B12, selenium, and zinc.

Hydrate adequately so you can flush out ingested toxins easily. Sleep sufficiently at least 8 hours a day. Many mental and physical diseases are caused by sleep deprivation. Be active. Engage in an exercise that you enjoy, and go outdoors to commune with nature, breathe fresh air, and get a big warm hug from the sun.

Spend time alone and just be. A quiet mind is a beautiful mind. Laugh a lot, even at yourself. Laughter is a powerful medicine, a superb immune system booster, and an excellent pain reliever. Practice stating positive affirmations that make you feel good about you. Affirmations boost confidence, strengthen faith, and build up hope.

Every morning, make it a point that your goal for the day is to be happier than yesterday and how to bring happiness to those around you.

By following all these, you are not only armoring yourself from the cold virus but from other major illnesses as well which cause misery.

Tomorrow is not promised, but today we can make a difference. Live, laugh, love, and shine bright. And infect others with it.

Namaste.
