CITY OF SAN
FERNANDO A bill seeking to establish a service road along the stretch of the North Luzon Expressway in Pampanga was approved by a House panel on Monday.

House Bill No. 912, principally authored by Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Jr. aims to establish the service road linking the eastern and western sides of NLEX in the province to be referred to as the Pampanga Service Road eyed to ease transport and traffic problems experienced by the commuting public for short distance travel.

The proposed road shall run from San Simon town in southern Pampanga to Mabalacat City to the northlinking the eastern and western sides of NLEX commencing from the San Simon Exit up to the Dau Exit.

The North Luzon Expressway has become a major factor in the growth and development of Central Luzon, particularly in the province of Pampanga. However, the use of NLEX for interbarangay travel has become costly and impractical for many Kapampangans,” Gonzales noted in his explanatory remarks.

He furthered: That’s why I proposed the construction of a service road along NLEX to help ease the transportation problems experienced most notably by farmers and the commuting public who need to go through NLEX even for short distance trips. This is an effective alternative that would cut travel time, reduce cost, enhance rural productivity, and link far flung barangays to their city and town centers.

The stretch of NLEX in Pampanga goes through San Simon and Sto. Tomas in the 4th District, the City of San Fernando and Mexico in the 3rd District, and Angeles City and Mabalacat City in the 1st District.
