Greenhorn joins mayoral race in Floridablanca

CLARK FREEPORT — There is much ado about a greenhorn joining the mayoralty race in Floridablanca, a first-class municipality in the province’s second district.

First, he is a doctor by profession. Earning his degree in 1987 from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

Second, he is the president of the Floridablanca Doctors Hospital and first vice-president of the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology.

Gastroenterology is an area of medicine that focuses on the health of the digestive system, or the gastrointestinal tract, as well as the liver. Gastroenterologists can treat everything from irritable bowel syndrome to Hepatitis C.

Third, he went viral on social media for visiting Covid-19 patients undergoing quarantine in their houses at the height of the pandemic wearing full personal protective equipment.

He is Dr. Allan A. Policarpio, 53, or more popularly known as Dok Poli who gained the trust of Floridablancans for his successful annual medical missions which started in 1993.

Policarpio is entering politics with a vision for change as his slogan is “Pamagbayu at Pag-asa (Change and Hope).”

During the “Balitaan” media forum organized by the Capampangan in Media, Inc. at the Bale Balita here on Friday, Policarpio declared his platform of government aptly acronymed HEALS – Health, Education, Agriculture, Livelihood and Socioeconomics.

The newbie mayoral candidate is running under the political party, Aksyon Demokratiko.

Policarpio will face incumbent Mayor Darwin Manalansan and former mayor Eduardo Guerrero in the mayoralty race.
