CABANATUAN CITY – Ecijanos’ artistry and creativity took the center stage as several local designers showcased their creations in a festival of costumes, mostly featuring agricultural products, at the SM Megacenter here Saturday afternoon.
The competition, which is part of the 2nd Nueva Ecija Harvest Festival, featured works of best designers from eleven cities and municipalities in thevprovince, according to Carol Licup, assistant mall manager.
The internatipnally acclaimed festival, a recipient pf last year’s Stevie Award in Singapore, was designed to uplift tourism and the so-valled one town one productnof each local government unit.
Thus, a coooperation of the tourism offices of LGUs.
“The ladies ramped witj gowns made ofblocal and indiginous materials,” said Licup.
Among the participating were the municipalities of Licab, San Antonio, Zaragoza, Llanera, Santa Rosa, Talavera, Aliaga, and the cities of Gapan and Munoz.
Zaragoza, which showcased a lass in gown made of abaca, bungkos palay and rice grains, bested them all to take home P15,000 in cash prize and plaque.
San Antonio was second and Gapan City, third place for P10,000 and P5,000 with plaque, respectively.
Licup said winning costumes will be exhibited in thevmall for one week to better promote artistry to mall goers.
