CLARK FREEPORT – A Kapampangan from Barangay San Agustin, City of San Fernando finally emerged champion in the Rain Forest Challenged (RFC) Global Series Philippines 2018 after a grueling three-day rain-soaked off-roading competition held in various parts of the province.

Randy Sobrepeňa of the Pampanga Off-Roaders Club, Inc. (PORCI) emerged winner in a field of 44 winning the second RFC Global Series Philippines with his 40 Series Toyota Land Cruiser and dethroning 2017 champion Mayor John Sambo of Sto. Tomas town.

“First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Rene Romero and Marni Castro for their support and Rainforest Challenged for bringing the competition to Pampanga,” Sobrepeňa, past president of PORCI, said.

Sobrepeňa won a trophy, a set of Maxxi Tires, P100,000 cash prize and will represent the Philippines in the RFC Malaysia in November.

Philippine representative of RFC Malaysia, Atty. Roberto Consunji said RFC is considered one of the top 10 of the world’s toughest motor sports because it’s a combination of driving off-road and needs engineering, vehicular recovery and jungle survival.

The competition is a multi-discipline off-road challenge to select a pool of local off-roaders to represent the Philippines in the Rainforest Challenge Malaysia 2018.

The awarding ceremony was held at the Royce Hotel and Casino here on August 27.
