Farmers participate in CDC’s Seminar on vegetable production,management

CLARK FREEPORT—Some 45 farmers from nearby communities in this Freeport participated in the recent Orientation Seminar on Vegetable Production and Management organized by Clark Development Corporation (CDC) in partnership with Farm Ready Seed Incorporation (FRSI).

Under CDC’s program dubbed as “Gulayan sa Bakuran, Tulong sa Kabuhayan at Kalusugan”, farmers from communities of Porac, Pampanga, Bamban and Capas, Tarlac and Sapangbato, Angeles City were given information on seeds classification, crop management, grafted vegetables and other useful guidelines in order to improve their crop production on pepper, eggplant and lady’s fingers (okra) which were highlighted on the said activity.

During the event, CDC External Affairs Division Assistant Manager Marose Mandap welcomed the participants and encouraged them to propagate the information that they have acquired during the seminar.

“Sana po ang araw na ito ay maging kapakipakinabang upang makapagshare po kayo sa iba bilang pangkabuhayan dito sa gulayan na ito, sana rin ay po ay i-share ninyo kung ano man ang natutunan natin dito,” Mandap said.

Mandap furthered that a seedling dispersal program organized by CDC will also take place on August 30, 2018 to distribute various seedlings and help improve livelihood of each farmers.

The seedling dispersal program, which was introduced in 2014 is a continuing program of the state-owned firm and part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to uplift the lives of nearby communities.

Meanwhile, FRSI Field Coordinator Jun Manaois conducted the orientation and thanked the state-owned firm for partnering with them in their mission to provide innovative products and services that will help increase farmer’s income and promote growth and quality of the vegetable farming industry.

“Kami po ay nagpapasalamat sa Clark Development Corporation sa pag anyaya sa amin dito at sa pagtangkilik sa mga produkto upang makapagbigay ng hanapbuhay sa ating mga farmers, kami po ay taos pusong nagpapasalamat sa CDC.”

Manaois also reminded the participants that while they are learning the proper management of their crops, the FRSI promotes safe and effective way of maintaining the crops as the welfare of the farmers is also one of the most important things to consider when preserving plantations.

FRSI which was established in 2007, is the first ever nursery to professionalize and commercialize vegetables seedlings in the country and set the standards on vegetables seedlings for quality and innovation.
