Ex-mayor’s ex-bodyguard gunned down

    BALANGA CITY — One of two motorcycle-riding men shot and killed a former close-in security of an ex-mayor of Pilar, Bataan on his way home on board a tricycle at 12 noon Monday.

    Attending doctors at the Saint Joseph Hospital here declared Crispin Artuz, 54, of Pilar town dead on arrival. The victim sustained five gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.

    Scene of the crime operatives recovered from the place of the shooting in Barangay Poblacion, Balanga City five empty shells from .45 pistol.

    Artuz was the bodyguard of former Pilar Mayor Carlos Pizarro, Jr., now general manager of the Metro Bataan Development Authority.

    A tricycle driver said the victim boarded his tricycle at the Balanga City passenger terminal. “Pagdating sa Poblacion, may tumapat na motorsiklo sa amin at nagpaputok. Bumaba ang pasahero ko pero hinabol ng lalaki at muling pinaputukan,” he said.

    The tricycle driver who asked not to be identifi ed said the gunman was in crash helmet and wore a facemask.

    Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., Bataan police director, ordered a manhunt for the killers.
