TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted skills training on dairy processing for members of Palayamanan Agricultural Cooperative in Victoria, Tarlac.

In 2021, the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) beneficiary cooperative received dairy carabaos from Philippine Carabao Center in support of their livelihood.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said the activity seeks to level up the value of the cooperative’s daily produce.

“The activity aimed to create a pool of skilled dairy product manufacturers in the community, [to] encourage the farmers to increase the production of Carabao’s Milk, and to introduce new products that would spur investments and generate employment.” she added.

Members were taught to create pastillas, powdered milk, condensed milk, mozzarella cheese, milk chocolate, Bavarian spread, and ube ice cream using carabao’s milk.

This is under the CARP program of the department which provides continuous skills training to agrarian reform beneficiaries to help them improve to cope with the demands of the market.
