CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed a total of 1,756,607 Family Food Packs (FFPs) to families affected by prolonged rains and flooding across the seven provinces of Central Luzon.
The distribution comes as DSWD continues its response to weeks of heavy rains brought by recent tropical cyclones and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or habagat, which have affected communities across the region.
Flooding has damaged homes, disrupted livelihoods and commerce, and affected the normal flow of daily activities in several communities.
Through the coordinated efforts of its operations and administrative clusters, DSWD Field Office 3, in partnership with local government units (LGUs), continues to provide essential assistance to affected families and individuals, particularly those facing food insecurity.
To ensure the availability of relief supplies, the agency maintains sufficient stocks of FFPs in its regional and satellite warehouses for immediate distribution to communities in need.
These efforts support the government’s disaster response under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which continues to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms and ensure that affected families receive timely assistance during calamities.
DSWD Regional Director Venus Rebuldela underscored the importance of sustained coordination and collective action in carrying out the relief operations.
She also expressed appreciation to DSWD officials and employees who continue to respond to the needs of affected communities despite the prolonged emergency.
Rebuldela particularly recognized frontline service personnel, Quick Response Teams, regional staff, and support offices whose combined efforts have enabled the agency to deliver assistance where and when it is needed most.
She said the accomplishment reflects the dedication of DSWD personnel, or the agency’s “Angels in Red Vests,” in fulfilling its mandate to provide timely and responsive social protection to vulnerable families.
Aside from assisting disaster-affected communities, DSWD is also providing support to its personnel and their families through the Caring for the Carers program.
Under the initiative, the field office has established safe facilities and temporary evacuation spaces for employees’ families, providing workers with peace of mind and a secure place for their loved ones while they continue performing their duties.
As Central Luzon continues to recover from prolonged rains and flooding, DSWD remains committed to sustaining relief operations, strengthening coordination with local governments, and ensuring that vulnerable families receive timely assistance.
