DPWH to construct 10 bridges, other projects in Bataan

    ORANI, Bataan — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has budgeted this year the rehabilitation of 10 major bridges and concreting of a six-lane road in the first district of this province, according to its district engineer on Tuesday.

    District Engr. Erlindo Flores, Jr. said Rep. Geraldine Roman of the province’s first district requested the projects worth P132 million that will be implemented within the year.

    The bridges to be rehabilitated are the Orani 1 and Orani 2 bridges in Orani town; Calaylayan, Capitangan, Salian bridges and another bridge in Abucay town; Culis and Almario bridges in Hermosa town; Mabical bridge in Samal town and Mauban bridge in the town of Morong.

    The rehabilitation of the 10 bridges constructed in the 1970sare mostly along the Roman Superhighway and funded for P100 million while the widening from four to six lanes of the portion of the superhighway in Abucay town has a budget of P32 million, Flores said.

    The ongoing projects are the bridge rehabilitation costing multi-million pesos along the MacArthur Highway in the towns of Samal and Abucay and a road in Barangay Mulawin in Orani town.

    The district engineer also said there is an ongoing project for the setting-up of 400 posts (200 posts on each side) for the installation of street lights along the Roman Superhighway in Palihan, Culis and Mambog, all barangays in Hermosa town.

    The four-kilometer lighting project was budgeted for P42 million, Flores said.
