CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a 473-square meter gymnasium at barangay Palale in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.
The facility features brick-covered columns inspired by the Lumang Gapan style advocated by Nueva Ecija 4th District Representative Emerson Pascual.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the multipurpose building is capable of hosting a wide range of activities such as medical missions, barangay assemblies, and sports competitions.
“We were informed that the elementary and high school sports activities in the barangay are now being held here. In times of natural disasters or emergencies, the building can also serve as a secure shelter for the community, ensuring the safety of residents,” he added.
The completed multipurpose structure includes a basketball backboard, a ramp for persons with disabilities, and floodlights for evening activities.
A total of P4.88 million was allocated for the project under the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
