CLARK FREEPORT – Animal lovers prepare your favorite pets as “A Dog Day Afternoon” will be held here next month as part of the efforts to promote this Freeport.

The Metro Clark Pampanga Canine Club Inc. (MCPCCI) and the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) joined forces to stage the dog show event at the parade ground here on April 18.

“The project is unique because anyone could his or her dog even if they are not pure breeds. No real contest on who owns the most beautiful dog but just spending a relaxed day with your animal friend,” said CDC public relations chief Sonny Lopez, who is also a member of the MCPCCI.

Lopez disclosed that the prime movers of the project are MCPCCI President and CDC Vice President for Finance Noel Manankil and Bernadette Gosioco, treasurer and show coordinator of the MCPCCI.

Nestor Ponce III, marketing manager of Nestle-Purina dog food, said his firm will support the project in Clark. He gave a seminar on dog nutrition at the Casino Filipino-Mimosa here on Monday attended by Manankil, Gosioco, Lopez, MCPCCI members and dog breeders.

He said the “dog day will certainly be a hit in Clark and Pampanga” considering the sales they get in the province. He disclosed that the province accounts for 50 percent of their some P3-million total monthly sales in Central Luzon.

“This indicates that there are many dog breeders and owners in Pampanga compared to other provinces in the region,” said Ponce.

Lopez said the ‘dog day at Clark” will start at about 4 p.m. and will go on until late in the evening.

“A wholesome fun and one way of promoting the beautiful and promising Clark Freepot,” he added.
